What it’s about
In their race for the truth, love must prove more powerful than America’s worst enemy…

a gorgeous, bleeding woman on the run falls into the arms of Sean
“Metal” O’Brien, the former SEAL medic knows just what he can do. Heal
her. Tend to her. Keep her safe.

What he can’t seem to do is keep his guard up. Something about the haunted, hunted beauty knocks down all his defenses.

Ward is no stranger to secrets. Raised in the Witness Protection
Program, her whole childhood was a lie. But she couldn’t have known that
her family’s secrets—secrets she didn’t even know she was keeping—could
spark a nuclear war.

And nothing could have prepared her for the
tough, sexy warrior who first saves her life and then vows to protect
it, no matter what.

Dorsey’s Review
Geek Meets Alpha Stars!!
I love the Midnight series. Midnight Promises is the fifth book
in the series and Metal and Felicity were introduced to us in the last book , Midnight Vengeance.

Felicity Ward is a beautiful Russian computer geek who has
lived a very secluded life, without relatives and very few friends. Felicity
decides to surprise Lauren the heroine from Midnight
with a visit. Lauren is the cyber friend she’s never met in
person but has formed a strong bond with.  However, when Felicity arrives at the airport
someone is waiting for her and attempts to abduct her. She escapes, but is severely
injured in the process, but Lauren is the only one she can trust. When Felicity
finally connects with Lauren she also meets Sean O’Brien aka “Metal”, who becomes
her fierce protector.
I loved Sean “Metal”!! His
character is sensitive, very protective, but he’s still a somewhat
dominant alpha. He comes from a family of heroes, but sadly his father and four
brothers all perished on 9/11, then his mother died of a broken heart soon
after. He joined the Navy, became a SEAL, and found a new family at ASI to fill the
void. Metal isn’t as hard as the other heroes in this series, he’s looking for
love and he’s found it in Felicity. He’s attracted to her quirky sense of
humor, her intelligence, and her loyalty. He and the rest of the team join
ranks to protect Felicity and find out who is after her and why, and the women
rally around Felicity, which I loved!
The plot was nothing new and as with the
whole series the heroine is in jeopardy and the hero comes to the rescue, but
what made me really love this book was Felicity. She is an exceptionally intelligent
woman, with an off-the-chart IQ, and while she may not be hip about the ways of
the world, that’s okay, because she’s totally cool and has a fantastic sense of
humor!! The things Felicity could do using her prototype laptop was amazing and
I totally loved her character!!

All in all, I enjoyed the interesting storyline, and the
fact that ALL the characters from the previous books were included and rallied
around Felicity. It had everything I come to expect in a Lisa Marie Rice Midnight series book and hopefully we’ll
get more of these amazing heroes and heroines in the future.
