"Create one perfect bite."
Good little widow Sophia Brown always follows the rules. When the producer of a cooking competition requests an amuse-bouche, the chefs stick with proteins. Sauces. A savory concoction. She has only one shot to impress the judges on A Taste of Heaven. But in a moment of defiance, she creates an extraordinary dessert, one that combines both the bitter and the sweet, just like her own life.
That one bite changes everything.
After a year grieving for her dead husband, forty-seven-year-old Sophia is finally ready to break out of her shell. Unfortunately, there is a large, angry obstacle standing in her way. Scottish chef Elliott Adamson has a chip on his shoulder the size of Loch Ness, and he's blocking her path to victory.
Spurred by her daughters, she embarks on a poignant adventure that takes her from the wildflower fields of Vermont to the wind-swept vista of North Berwick, Scotland. Fear, courage, and inspiration from unlikely places will mark this journey, and Sophia is determined to persevere until the very end. A Taste of Heaven is a novel that includes a foodie romance, second chances, and a wee bit of haggis.
Steffi says: 5 stars! A Taste of Heaven, indeed!
Penny Watson does it again. After falling in love with her writing through the Klaus Brothers series, Lumberjack In Love and Apples Should Be Red, she hits it out of the park with A Taste Of Heaven. From start to finish, this entertaining, delicious novella had me in its grip.
Sophia’s life has lost its color after her husband’s death. A passionate amateur cook, she can hardly even taste her own food anymore. When her daughters force her out of her comfort zone and sign her up for a cooking competition, Sophia comes to life again – mostly out of anger at her co-chef, Elliott Adamson. Elliott is definitely not your run-of-the-mill romance hero. He is a real guy, and with that I don’t mean particularly manly, even though he is that, but Elliott is an actual, realistic man. He doesn’t have abs or rescues damsels in distress, but he is hard-headed, opinionated, passionate, stubborn and pretty funny. The culinary world is highly entertaining and my mouth was watering at all the delicious foods.
If there is one book you should read in 2016, it is this one! Don’t miss out on the fun. With its heart-warming ending, A Taste Of Heaven is a winner on all fronts!
Karla says: 5 Stars! A mouth-watering smexy smorgasbord of deliciousness!
New Cuisine meets old style cooking in this amusing, passionate, clever, entertaining read. Add to that a drizzle of sweet, a whole lot of spice, toss in some charming characters, mix it up and you’ve got A Taste of Heaven, a delectable delight that is sure to satisfy everyone’s romantic comedy palate!
Penny Watson is no flash in the pan author…she’s the real deal, and you can count on her for a first-rate read every time. Her stories are always fresh, fun and filled with steamy goodness! They never fail to make me chuckle and always leave me smiling!
