One story. Two Couples.

I proposed on our first date.
She laughed and told me I was insane. Less than a day later, she said yes.
It was a whirlwind, but we were happy...
Until we got greedy and wanted a family.

It was a life I couldn't give her, not for lack of trying. Fertility just wasn't on our side. We sought out doctors and treatments. Spent money we didn't have. Lied to our families. Smiled for our friends. Put on a brave face for a world that didn't understand.
Finally, we were successful...
Until we were forced to bury our son.

We were left broken, battered, and destroyed.
They say love is in the details, but it was the details that ruined us.

This is the story of how I took back what had always been mine. The retrieval of my wife and our family.

Crista’s Review

4 Stars!

Wow!  This is book 1 of a book “duet”, and let me tell you, I guarantee that after you read this, you’ll be reaching for the next book as quickly as you can!  This first book has a little bit of everything: heartbreak, forgiveness, renewal, and hope.

This is the story of a couple who experience a huge tragedy that ultimately leads to their divorce.  It is told in alternating perspectives, which is important as their entire relationship is retold in a series of flashbacks.

This book aptly named.  Roman is still completely in love with his ex-wife Elisabeth, and at the first sign of a green light, aggressively goes on a mission to retrieve his wife.

If you are a fan of alpha males, they don’t get any more alpha than Roman.  He is an uber-wealthy business CEO who made his fortune AFTER the divorce was finalized.  He is arrogant, powerful, and ruthless, but with Elisabeth, he shows a vulnerability that is unmistakable.

Elisabeth is unimpressed by Roman’s wealth and truthfully doesn’t want anything to do with the money.  Her desires for her life are very simple and real: She wants a family.

I really enjoyed this book.  Time flew by as I was reading as I so desperately wanted this couple to find their way back to one another.  The intensity of the passion between them was amazing and felt so real.  Despite their whirlwind courtship, I believed that they were meant to be together, and they were a very easy couple to cheer for.

We are also introduced to Clare who also has chapters told from her viewpoint.  She is trapped in a very physically, emotionally, and verbally abusive marriage.  There are some very tough scenes of domestic abuse in this book, so beware if you have any triggers to this.

Clare, Roman, and Elisabeth’s lives are all on a trajectory that are headed towards an intersection, and like I said at the beginning, make sure you have Transfer all ready downloaded and ready to go before you start this book!

Fabulous love story and starting point for what proved to be a remarkable series.
