I wanted to jump.
He made me fall.
As a celebrity, I lived in the public eye, but somewhere along the way, I'd lost myself in the spotlight.
Until he found me.
Sam Rivers was a gorgeous, tattooed stranger who saved my life with nothing more than a simple conversation.
But we were both standing on that bridge for a reason the night we met. The secrets of our pasts brought us together-and then tore us apart.
Could we find a reason to hold on as life constantly pulled us down?
Or maybe there's only one direction to go when two people fall in love at rock bottom-up.
After reading her On The Ropes series, I have completely fallen in love with Aly Martinez’ writing. Picking up The Fall Up, I wasn’t sure what to expect. I have never been a fan of rockstar or celebrity romances and would not have given this book a try if not for this author’s ability to make the rest of the world fade away with her stories.
The Fall Up does feature a popular singer, but it is only a very small part of the story. What this book is really about is love, accepting the tragedies of life but living it to the fullest anyway, loving yourself, letting go and holding on. Sam and Leeve both have rugged edges, but they fit together perfectly like two pieces of a puzzle.
Sam and Leeve’s first meeting is rather unconventional, but perfectly showcases their relationship. It’s fragile and strong at the same time. They both have difficult issues to deal with from their pasts and having been through unimaginable trauma, it effects their lives in different ways. Especially Sam is a bit of a caretaker, but so is Levee in a different way, giving so much of herself to others that she finally burns out. While their new-found love is not an instant fix, it gives them both the strength and motivation to heal. These two have an undeniable chemistry and Aly Martinez is a master at writing sensual sex scenes. Sam and Leeve share many laughs, joy and also sorrow, but together, as a team, nothing can stand in their way.
“There isn’t a woman in the world who doesn’t have demons of some sort. No matter who I end up with, it’s always going to be a struggle.” I kissed her hair again, letting it linger as if my lips were able to transfer the truth of my words. “Levee, I’d like to struggle with you.” ~Sam
While this book addresses serious issues, the story remains light, funny and absolutely charming. Sam and Leeve not only have great chemistry in the bedroom, but their banter and small inside jokes made them a fun couple to read about.
“You haven’t even seen my six-pack and huge cock, yet.”
“You brought beer and chicken?”
Aly Martinez has a distinctive writing style and voice that make her books absolutely unique to me. The Fall Up is graced with lovable secondary characters, such as Leeve’s best friend, Henry, and Sam’s friends and family. I loved them all and can’t wait for Henry’s story in The Spiral Down in May. Another big hit, The Fall Up is a highly recommended, beautiful story by an incredibly talented author. Don’t miss out and check out Aly Martinez and The Fall Up!!
