Review: Duke Of Sin (Maiden Lane #10) by Elizabeth Hoyt

Review: Duke Of Sin (Maiden Lane #10) by Elizabeth Hoyt

Crista’s Review Duke of Sin is book 10 of Elizabeth Hoyt’s brilliant Maiden Lane series.  It can be read as a standalone, but the characters do appear in other books and readers may miss some backstory if not familiar with the previous books.  On the other hand, this book is VERY different from all other books in the series, so it might actually work to read it all by itself. Valentine Napier, the Duke of Montgomery, is not a nice man.  He is definitely an anti-hero and has done some truly despicable things.  This is a new avenue for Hoyt, and she really does a fabulous job tackling a very difficult […]

Review: Honor & Roses (Swordcross Knights #1) by Elizabeth Cole

Review: Honor & Roses (Swordcross Knights #1) by Elizabeth Cole

Steffi’s Review Get lost in the world of medieval England in Elizabeth Cole’s Honor & Roses! Originally drawn in by the beautiful cover, Elizabeth Cole quickly managed to transport me to another time and place. Honor & Roses starts off at a point when our heroine, Lady Cecily de Vere, is still quite young but there is already a strong bond between her and Alric of Hawksmere, one of her uncle’s trained knights. Not much older than Cecily, Alric leaves to fight in the war. When they meet again years later, the connection they once shared flares up again but Alric is below Cecily’s station and she is to be […]

Review: The Obsession by Nora Roberts

Review: The Obsession by Nora Roberts

Dorsey’s Review 4 Suspenseful Stars! As I started this book I was instantly drawn to young Naomi. Naomi is a couple of days away from her 12th birthday when she discovers what a monster her father is. As the story continues we see Naomi, her mother, and young brother Mason learning to live with the fallout of her father’s depravity with the help of her beloved Uncle Seth and his partner Harry. Young Naomi is excited about her upcoming birthday and to see if she’ll get a new bicycle. Naomi wakes up during the middle of the night and sees her father heading into the woods, she thinks he’s hidden […]

Review: Bitter Bite (Elemental Assassin #14) by Jennifer Estep

Review: Bitter Bite (Elemental Assassin #14) by Jennifer Estep

Karla’s Review 4 Stars! A good read but missing some of that “WOW” factor! I love the Elemental Assassin series and have been in it from the beginning. I anxiously wait for each release and my expectations are always high. Jennifer Estep usually meets or exceeds them, but Bitter Bite didn’t quite work for me as the other books in the series have. If I had to put my finger on what was missing I would say it was due to Deidre’s, Finn’s mother, elemental aspect. Part of what I look forward to is finding out what horrific power the evil entity possesses and she had an elemental power we’ve seen […]

Review: Word Of Honor (Knights Of Valor #1) by Lauren Linwood

Steffi’s Review Lauren Linwood whisks readers away to another place and time in this historical romance with a love that is strong enough to overcome anything. After years at war with France, Geoffrey is finally free to return to his betrothed and marry the love of his life. No one could have anticipated that they would only get to spend one night together as a married couple when Geoffrey disappears all of a sudden. Seven years later, Geoffrey returns but, unwilling to share the reason for his long absence, Merryn hardly recognizes her […]

Review: The Hurricane (The Hurricane #1) by R.J. Prescott

Review: The Hurricane (The Hurricane #1) by R.J. Prescott

Dorsey’s Review 4 Fighting for Love Stars!!! The Hurricane begins with Emily, a university student working as a waitress in a diner, and very obviously trying hard not to be noticed. She’s running from her horrific past and trying to stay free, so she keeps her head down, rarely makes eye contact, and never makes acquaintances. But that all changes when she befriends a cranky old man she waits on daily, then one day in walks a scary handsome man who she shows the first signs of life for. Cormac “The Hurricane” O’Connell is a fighter at the gym Danny owns, and when he meets Emily his whole world changes. “She […]

Review: The Story Guy (Lakefield novellas) by Mary Ann Rivers

Review: The Story Guy (Lakefield novellas) by Mary Ann Rivers

Crista says: The Story Guy is a quick and short read that never comes across that way. It is multi-layered, unique, and memorable. Brian Newburgh and Carrie West meet online after Carrie answers a personal add. The add states that Brian is looking for a Wednesday afternoon weekly meeting that will consist of “kissing only”. The add clearly states that this meeting will not result in a relationship or anything further sexual. Kissing only. This is of course a romance novel, so the rules set up in the personal add were meant to be broken:) Although this relationship starts out “playing by the rules”, as the chemistry heats up between Brian […]

Review: Magenta Mine (Invertary #3) by Janet Elizabeth Henderson

Review: Magenta Mine (Invertary #3) by Janet Elizabeth Henderson

Steffi’s Review Janet Elizabeth Henderson convinces in this hilarious, quirky and very sweet Invertary novella! While Magenta Mine is part of the Invertary series, and I highly recommend all books, it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. Magenta Fraser and Harry Boyle have been friends since childhood. The resident genius, Harry started university at 16 and left a 13-year-old Magenta behind in Invertary. When he visits his hometown again on his first semester break, Magenta won’t have anything to do with him. Years later, Harry is back in town and he won’t let Magenta push him away again. After all, she is the love of his life. Magenta comes off […]

Leaving Yesterday (Laurel Falls #1) by Zoe Dawson

Leaving Yesterday (Laurel Falls #1) by Zoe Dawson

What it’s about Rafferty Hamilton doesn’t plan on putting down roots anytime soon. With her divorce final, the hotel heiress has left Manhattan behind to scout new locations for her family’s chain of resorts. Which is why it’s so frustrating to be stranded in Laurel Falls while a good-looking, slow-talking, Stetson-wearing mechanic takes his sweet time with her overheated coupe.   A decorated vet who paid his dues in Afghanistan, Trace Black can fix anything with an engine and get it revving—even Rafferty’s ridiculous sports car. He’s couldn’t say the same for the knockout driver, who looks like she’s never gripped a gear shaft in her life. Women like Rafferty don’t […]
