I’m All Ears ~ An Audio Book Review: Origin in Death (In Death, #21) by J.D. Robb

I’m All Ears ~ An Audio Book Review: Origin in Death (In Death, #21) by J.D. Robb

Karla’s Review 4.5 Stars! 21 books in and this series it’s still going strong…at least for me! What I love most about this series is the character development. Not only are the crimes imaginative and the police procedures interesting, this one had a strong sci-fi element, and the characters aren’t one-dimensional. Their personalities are getting stronger and they are coming into their own. From the beginning of the series to this book about 18 months passed, and the pace in which the characters are evolving fits the timeline. You can’t change overnight, these things take time and people and events shape us into who we become and that’s what J. D. […]

I’m All Ears ~ Audiobook Review: The Search by Nora Roberts

I’m All Ears ~ Audiobook Review: The Search by Nora Roberts

Karla’s Review 3 Stars! I’m still “SEARCHING” for the excitement! Okay, so the book had some moments, but I really expected more in the way of a thrilling read. I did like the two main characters, Fiona and Simon. Fiona was easy going, funny and a dog trainer extraordinaire! Simon was gruff, demanding, pushy, but it added to his appeal and they played well off of each other. I enjoyed the dog training aspect of the book, I love dogs, but when a book is titled The Search and the underlying plot centers around a serial killer, well, you would think it would be more exciting! Fiona survived a kidnapping, the […]

I’m All Ears ~ Audiobook Review: Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway

I’m All Ears ~ Audiobook Review: Emmy & Oliver by Robin Benway

Karla’s review 4 Stars! A touching, heartwarming, pensive read! “Oliver’s absence split us wide open, dividing our neighborhood along a fault line strong enough to cause an earthquake. An earthquake would have been better. At least during an earthquake, you understand why you’re shaking.” This thought-provoking story is about a parental kidnapping and the impact it has on the lives of the friends and family of a young boy who was taken by his father. Oh, the joy when he’s finally found, or maybe not… Oliver’s not a little boy anymore, he’s a teenager with his own opinions and feelings about what happened. He’s been taken all over again from […]

I’m All Ears ~ Books Worth A Listen: Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts

I’m All Ears ~ Books Worth A Listen: Chasing Fire by Nora Roberts

What it’s about Little else in life is as dangerous as fire jumping. Flying past towering pillars of smoke, parachuting down to the edge of an all-consuming blaze, shoveling and sawing for hours upon hours, days at a time, all to hold the line and push back against the raw power of Mother Nature. But there’s also little else as thrilling – at least to Rowan Tripp. The Missoula smoke jumpers are one of the most exclusive fire-fighting squads in the nation, and the job is in Rowan’s blood: her father is a legend in the field. Flashback Friday: Audiobook Review ~ Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale

Flashback Friday: Audiobook Review ~ Flowers from the Storm by Laura Kinsale

What it’s about The Duke of Jervaulx was brilliant – and dangerous. Considered dissolute, reckless, and extravagant, he was transparently referred to as the “D of J” in scandal sheets. And Maddy knows it is her destiny to help him and her only chance to find the true man behind the wicked facade.  But she never dreamed her gentle, healing touch would alter his life and her own so completely – and bind them […]
