5 Second Chance Stars!!
I freaking love Kristen Ashley and I hope she never, ever, EVER quits writing!!!!
Over 20 years ago Millie fell in love with a boy with one word. For three years they were happily living life, planing their future and were desperately in love. He’s a young MC recruit who would give anything and do anything for her, she’s a college student living with the love of her life….sadly that beautiful love story was destroyed when Millie breaks his heart by simply walking away with no explanation……. and for the last twenty years Millie has been breathing, going through the motions but not really living…just existing. Millie’s reason for walking away is one that has haunted her since she left behind the beautiful life she shared with Logan (aka High).
Twenty years later, Millie spots Logan at a local fast food eatery and overhears a conversation he’s having in which it’s clear that he is single or soon to be single and decides it’s time to tell Logan why she walked away all those years ago. Their first face to face meeting did not go the way Millie intended, and it’s made abundantly clear that Logan has held onto his anger all these years and wants nothing to do with her. Yet, he can’t but help thinking of her, wanting her, craving her…
I loved Logan and his bad-ass ways, but, I have to say, in the beginning I seriously didn’t know how I would feel about him after his first encounter with Millie. I understood his anger, but man-oh-man he was such an asshole…then we see the other side, his softer side, and naturally (as with all KA’s alphas) you fall head over heels. I loved that he was able to accept Millie back in his life after learning her heartbreaking reason for leaving, and I loved that he made her understand that they couldn’t go back to how things were but that they could move their relationship forward. Millie was sweet, but when pushed she definitely pushed back. The passion between the pair did not fade during their 20 year separation, as evidenced in their explosive reunion.
“We didn’t walk through fire only to get to the end of that and not get our reward. If we can walk through fire, baby, we can do anything.”
Logan had two daughters and an ex-wife. I loved how that relationship was handled, normally, the ex is usually a troll and we hate them but that absolutely wasn’t the case here. Deb was actually pretty cool, understanding, supportive, and had a good solid relationship with Logan after the split.
“I’d do it again for another moment like this. And again for a moment like I had over French toast with you and your babies. And again and again and again, for each night I get to sleep with you. No joke. No lie. I’d do it every day it was so worth it to walk through fire for you.”
This was a fantastic second chance love story. I love these Chaos men!! BTW… bad guy Valenzuela is in this book so that story line continues, and you’ll hate him even more. Once again we get supporting roles from other KA series characters backing the club and their women. I LOVE THAT!! Another KA hit!
